Center for American Progress - Annual Dinner
For multiple years, Podium Arts Creative Director Joseph Finneran has conceived and produced CAP's annual fundraising dinner in collaboration with the CAP development team. The "Progressive Dinner" is a departure from the traditional DC fundraiser, with a minimal entertainment-oriented program and an open, dynamic environment that promotes movement and interaction. The production was twice set in the historic Mellon Auditorium in the heart of Washington, DC. Podium Arts made use of a modern design of truss-tables, elevated, under-lit bar platforms and a program of richly colored lighting, providing a refreshing compliment to the classic architecture of the space. More recently, the production was reconceived for the recently opened Newseum, taking full advantage of its unique setting and available technologies. Custom banners conveyed CAP’s brand and the message. Two news-tickers displayed key donor names and messaging, and multiple digital displays showcased CAP-produced media interwoven with historic content from the Newseum archive. The Newseum setting presented a unique challenge, as all event set-up including major enhancements to the facility’s sound system, as well as decor, signage and catering had to be put in place in under two hours.
