The upstairs "Nations Gallery" at the Kennedy Center was converted to a performance venue for this event. In cooperation with Kennedy Center Productions, substantial staging, audio, lighting and video enhancements were added to the space. The result was a black-tie gala featuring performances by artists such as Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight, Bebe Winans and Michael Bolton, as well as presentations by numerous donors and luminaries such as Lawrence Fishburn and newly elected Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
